Q Do I need to be an experienced player to join BACA?
Not at all! Players of all skill levels—from complete beginners to tournament champions—are welcome. Equipment (carrom boards, coins, and powder) is provided at all weekly practice sessions and events. Just bring your enthusiasm and love for the game!
Q I haven't played in a while. I think I will practice for a few months before I sign up for a tournament.
Our experience shows that participating in tournaments is the best way to get back into practice. That way you learn from your fellow players, make friends, get tips - and get back into carrom!!
Q Well, I am really afraid of embarrassing myself.
No one is going to judge you! If anything, most of your fellow players are likely to be very supportive and will be more than happy to help you improve your game - quickly. Please keep in mind that they were probably in your shoes a couple of years ago!
Q So how do I become a good player?
Join the discussions in the BACA WhatsApp lounge. Your fellow players are constantly sharing tips, sharing videos and learnings from each other. Of course, there is no substitute for regular practice - even focused solo practice produces great results. In addition, try and visit carrom websites like BACA or USCA - or install mobile carrom apps like Carrom Central. Q Is there a membership fee to join BACA?
No there is no membership fees to join BACA. Anyone can join, as long as you are fond of the game. Events organized by BACA may sometimes require a registration fee, primarily to cover the cost of venue, equipment and food served. Practice sessions are mostly free, but the fees (if any) and the logistics are decided by the host based on their constraints.
Q Is there a dedicated BACA club where I can go and play anytime?
No, BACA does not have a dedicated club or a permanent facility. We rent venues to hold events. The practice sessions are held by our generous fellow players that open up their home to hold carrom sessions. See our Practice sessions page for details and RSVPs.
Q Can anyone host a practice session?
Yes! Anyone can host a practice session. The host decides the date / time and other logistics. The host can decide how many spots to make available and who to invite. Q What equipment is used in competitive carrom, and what should I get?
Standard tournament play uses regulation 29" x 29" English Birch plywood carrom boards (such as Synco or Siscaa), official tournament carrom men (coins), a striker not exceeding 15 grams in weight, and specialized boric acid / disco powder for frictionless play. Q How do player ratings work?
BACA tracks player ratings based on match results from sanctioned tournaments and BACL league matches. Ratings adjust dynamically depending on the relative strength of opponents and match outcomes. Check out our Ratings page to view current standings.
